Great Pyramids of Giza

Rayan Elias

How to visit the last standing wonder of the ancient world without the crowds.

The pyramids of Giza under a blue sky

Standing at the foot of the Great Pyramid, you finally understand its scale. Each block is taller than your knee, and there are more than two million of them.

Arrive at opening time to beat the tour buses and the heat. Walk to the panoramic viewpoint for the classic photo of all three pyramids, then finish with the Sphinx in the softer afternoon light.

Carry water, cash for entry tickets and a scarf against the dust. A local guide is worth it for the stories you would never find on the signs.
