Guide to matching outfit colors and style

Simple colour rules that make putting outfits together faster and easier.

Colour matching is easier than it looks once you know a few rules.

Start with neutrals

Black, white, grey, navy and beige are the base of most outfits. Build around them.

Use the colour wheel

Colours next to each other (blue and green) feel calm; opposite colours (blue and orange) create contrast.

Try tone on tone

Wear several shades of one colour, from light to dark, for an elegant, elongating look.

Limit yourself to three

Two neutrals and one accent colour is a safe, stylish formula.
