Biography

Shatha Nawfal

Shatha first picked up a flute at the age of seven and has never put it down. After studying at the conservatoire and winning a string of international competitions, Shatha made a solo debut with a national orchestra at nineteen and has since performed on stages across Europe, Asia and the Americas.

Known for a warm, singing tone and a fearless approach to repertoire, Shatha moves easily between baroque sonatas, romantic concertos and new music written especially for the flute. Alongside concerts and recordings, Shatha teaches masterclasses and loves taking music to the street, where every audience is a surprise.

Awards & Recognition

First prize at three international flute competitions, a critics' award for best chamber recording, and artist-in-residence posts with two European festivals.

I do not consider myself a performer so much as a messenger: the music is already there, I simply carry it to you.
— Shatha Nawfal, Flautist
