Olympics 2025: The Cyclists to Watch

Track, road and BMX: the riders our sports desk expects to be fighting for medals this season.
Cycling offers some of the most unpredictable racing of any Olympic sport, with medals decided by fractions of a second on the track and by tactics on the road.
On the track
A new generation of sprinters has pushed world records lower over the past two seasons, and team pursuit squads are closer in speed than ever.
Road and BMX
The road race course favours climbers this time, which could open the door to riders who usually focus on stage races. In BMX freestyle, judges reward creativity as much as height, making the final hard to call.
