Biography

From a school choir in Zahle to stages across the Arab world.

Music has always been home

It started with a choir and a borrowed oud.

Nour Deeb wrote her first song at fourteen and sang it at every school concert and family wedding that would have her. By twenty she was opening for touring artists in Beirut, and her debut EP sold out at the venue long before it reached the radio.

Finding her own sound

Her albums mix Arabic pop, soul and a touch of jazz, recorded live with the same six-piece band she still tours with. The songs are personal: love, distance, the cities she has left and the people who brought her back.

Today she splits her time between the studio in Mar Mikhael and the road, playing more than forty shows a year from Casablanca to Muscat, and she still answers fan letters herself.

When I sing, I want the room to feel like one voice. That moment is why I keep going back on stage.
