Three trends every consultant should know

From AI to outcome-based pricing: the shifts changing what clients expect from consultants, and how to stay ahead.

Clients in Amman, Riyadh and Dubai expect more from consultants than they did five years ago. They want insight they cannot find on their own, delivered quickly and tied to results. Three shifts stand out.

AI raises the bar for judgement. Research, summaries and first drafts that once filled a consultant's week now take minutes. Clients notice. What they pay for is context and judgement: knowing which option fits their market, their team and their appetite for risk. Use AI tools for the groundwork and spend your time on the conversations that need you.

Shorter, more flexible engagements. Fewer clients want a six-month project with a thick report at the end. More want a focused sprint, a monthly advisory call or a workshop for their managers. Offering two or three clear formats makes it easier for clients to say yes.

Pricing tied to outcomes. Founders increasingly ask what a project will change, not how many hours it will take. Fixed fees for defined outcomes, with a review point halfway through, build trust on both sides and reward you for working efficiently.

None of these trends replaces experience. They reward consultants who can explain clearly what they do, for whom and with what result.
