Why young drivers in Kuwait are looking at electric cars

Yousef Al Haddad ·

Instant acceleration and software updates appeal, but charging and summer range still give buyers pause.

For a generation that grew up with smartphones, the car is starting to look like another connected device.

Young buyers like the instant acceleration, the quiet cabin and the software updates that add features over time. Many also like the idea of never queuing at a petrol station again.

The obstacles are real. Public charging is still limited outside the main areas, summer heat affects range, and resale values are hard to predict in a market this new.

Most early owners charge at home overnight, which works well in a house but is harder for apartment dwellers without a dedicated parking space.

Our advice: test-drive in August, not January, ask the dealer about the battery warranty and check where you would charge before you sign.
