Kitchen updates that help a Dubai apartment sell
Afra Al Basti
Small, inexpensive changes in the kitchen that buyers notice at a viewing.
The kitchen is still the room that sells an apartment. At viewings, buyers open the cupboards, look for storage and picture where the family will eat.
You rarely need a new kitchen to make a good impression. New handles, a deep clean of the extractor hood and fresh silicone around the sink cost little and make an older kitchen look cared for.
Light matters more than finishes. Replace yellowed bulbs with warm white LEDs, add a strip under the wall cabinets and keep the blinds open during viewings.
Clear the counters. Buyers want to see space for a coffee machine, a rice cooker and a kettle, not your own collection of appliances.
If the kitchen is closed, ask us before you knock down a wall. Many Dubai towers need building management and developer approval for layout changes, and an open kitchen does not suit every family.
